The Lake County Department of Public Works is currently repairing a
30-inch diameter underground pipe in Ingleside that carries waste water from
the East Main Pump Station, through a larger system of underground pipes, that
eventually ends at the Fox Lake Treatment Plant. This concrete pipe was
originally constructed in 1979 and needs repair due to deterioration in three
locations. The repairs will ensure that no leaks or breaks will occur in the
pipe that would allow waste water to leak out into the environment. This work
will be a 24-hour a day operation and require a road closure at Larkin Lane
between Wilson Road and Catherine Street for approximately one week starting
Oct. 30. The following
week (Nov. 6) work will take place east of the railroad
crossing at Larkin for approximately one week with no road closures.
As is typical with construction projects, expect large vehicle
traffic, noise from equipment and lighting that is necessary to keep the
project area safe during the overnight working hours.
The nature of this work is extremely weather dependent and therefore
the dates and times of the road closures may be delayed or rescheduled. Please
visit the Public Works website for the
most current information about this project, and use Lake County PASSAGE for local
traffic information.
Larkin Lane Detour: Local traffic will take
Catherine Street to Big Hollow Road, follow detour signs.
