View the unofficial results from the April 4 Consolidated Election for Election Day, early voting, and voting by mail ballots. Write-in candidate totals will be added within the next seven days. Remember, election results are unofficial until provisional and late-arriving vote by mail ballots are counted 14 days after the election, and the results are certified. 


Wadsworth Road Intersections Study Public Information Meeting

The Lake County Division of Transportation (LCDOT) is studying the intersections of Wadsworth Road at Dilleys Road, US 41, and Kilbourne Road. This upcoming public information meeting will be focused on the intersections of Dilleys Road and Kilbourne Road. The intersection of Wadsworth Road and US 41 will proceed as a separate study due to the larger scope, and a separate public information meeting will be held later this year. The purpose of this meeting is to present the preferred alternative for the two intersections and gather feedback from the public. View the project website to learn more.

Lake County Announces 2017 Construction Program

2017 construction program

 In 2017, Lake County will have roughly $94 million in road projects under construction. About $56 million is carried over from 2016, accounting for two of the big projects underway - the grade separation and widening/reconstruction of Washington Street, and the reconstruction of Deerfield Road. Much of the remaining work planned in 2017 falls under the preservation category, which includes resurfacing projects, culvert replacements and bridge repairs. In total, the Lake County Division of Transportation will have 28 active construction projects this year. View the 2017 Construction Program Map.

We Want to Know About Your Travel Needs!

A Paratransit Market Study is now underway in Lake County to evaluate transportation options for seniors, people with disabilities, and the general public. There are a variety of services currently available, such as Pace Dial-a-Ride or township programs, to assist you in your travels to and from medical appointments, places of employment and other daily activities.

We are asking you to help us understand your needs, identify gaps in service, and provide your recommendations for what you hope to see. Here are some examples of what we’ve heard so far:

Need: “I need the bus to get to work, to my doctor's office, and to see my family in Grayslake.”
Gaps: “I have service within my township, but I don’t have service beyond that”
Recommendation: “A county-wide transportation system could and should allow for online reservations, prepaid ride cards, expanded routes, and expanded hours that cover a typical business day.”

Upcoming Senior Freeze Outreach Sessions

The Chief County Assessment Office and Lake County Township Assessors Association offers help to senior citizens ages 65 and older who want to complete the 2017 Senior Citizen Assessment Freeze Application for taxes payable in 2018, as well as assistance to taxpayers who may qualify to apply for other homestead exemptions. Attend an upcoming outreach session where residents can work one-on-one with a staff member to complete the necessary forms. The Senior Freeze Application is due by July 7. Fox River Status Update

The Fox Waterway Agency announced effective immediately, there is an upgrade to the no wake restriction on the Fox River from the mouth of the Fox River at Pistakee Lake south to IL Route 62. There is a debris advisory in effect for the entire Chain O' Lakes and Fox River. The Fox Waterway Agency is continuing to monitor levels with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR). Household Chemical Waste Collection Planned in Fox Lake

The Solid Waste Agency of Lake County will hold a household chemical waste collection from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. April 29 at the Fox Lake Streets Department, 216 Washington St., Fox Lake. The collection is open only to Illinois residents. Learn more, including a list of accepted items.

Recently, elected officials and community leaders kicked off the 2017 Blue Kids Lake County project, which aims to educate the community about signs of child abuse and how to help prevent it. Water Hydrant Flushing Program Begins

Lake County Public Works has begun its semiannual water hydrant flushing program across the county. After flushing, you may notice a slight discoloration of the water. You are urged not to do laundry during flushing periods in your area to avoid staining of clothing, which may occur due to the disturbance in the water main. This is not harmful and will dissipate after a short time. It is recommended to run cold water for several minutes to clear your pipes. View the schedule.

Collect special eggs filled with treats, and have a hopping good time at these area egg hunts.

  • Lake Villa will hold its annual egg hunt at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 8 at Lehmann Park. Learn more
  • Lindenhurst will hold its egg hunt at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 8 at Forest View Park. Learn more
  • Antioch will hold a flashlight egg hunt for teens ages 11 to 15 at 7:30 p.m. April 13 at Centennial Park. Learn more
  • Antioch also will hold an Eggcelent Easter adventure parade and hunt at 10:30 a.m. April 15. Learn more

See what Antioch Parks and Recreation has planned 
The Antioch Parks and Recreation Department will hold its bike resale from 8 to 11 a.m. April 22. Bike and accessories drop off will take place April 20 and 21 at the parks gym. 

A mother and daughter bingo event will take place April 30. Seating will be at noon, 2:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. Enjoy lunch and bingo. For information about these programs, call the parks office at 847-395-2160 or send an email to parks@antioch.il.gov.

Save the date for these upcoming programs to be offered by the Lindenhurst Park District.

  • The carp fishing derby, open to all ages, will take place at 7:30 a.m. May 20 at John Janega Memorial Park. Registration will begin at 7 a.m. Learn more
  • Rockin' the Park, a free children's concert series will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays, June 13, 27, July 11 and 25 at Mallard Park. Learn more

Lindenhurst opens new community garden
Families are invited to take part in the new community garden, created by the Lindenhurst Environmental Commission and the Lindenhurst Park District. Located on the Lindenhurst Park District grounds, the garden will feature 10-by-10 foot plots. Plots are limited to one per family. Learn more
