Learn About Suicide Prevention at a Workshop, April 11

The workshop “Suicide Prevention: Common Errors and Current Trends” will take place Tuesday, April 11, from 8:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  Sponsored by the Lake County Suicide Prevention Task Force, the College of Lake County and the Lake County Health Department, the workshop will be held at the College of Lake County, Wing A Auditorium, Lower Level, 19351 W. Washington Street in Grayslake, Illinois.

The workshop is primarily for social workers, therapists and case managers, but the public is welcome to attend.  It will explore new research on evidence-based approaches and explain theoretical models of suicide risk. The presenter is Jason L. Chen, PhD, a Health Services Research and Development Fellow at the VA Portland Health Care System Center to Improve Veteran Involvement in Care. The focus of his work is on translating research into clinical practice to improve veteran suicide prevention efforts. He received his PhD in clinical psychology at the University of South Florida.

The cost of the workshop is $20.00. To register, visit: https://lcpreventsuicide.eventbrite.com. Walk-ins are welcome, but a $10.00 fee will be added.
