Ballots by Mail for April 4th Election Ready on March 20th

WAUKEGAN, Illinois – March 20th is the first day ballots for the April 4th Consolidated Election will be available to those choosing to vote by mail. Since a ballot can be mailed to any address, Lake County Clerk Carla N. Wyckoff recommends careful consideration of the ballot delivery address as there is a short amount of time between the conclusion of the February 28th Primary Election and the April 4th General Election. Also, many people travel during this time of year.

Registered voters must complete a ballot by mail request form before noon on Thursday, March 30. Voted ballots returning to the Clerk’s office are required to have a postmark no later than midnight on Election Day.

In the February 28th Primary Consolidated Election, City of Waukegan and Waukegan Township citizens nominated city mayor, city clerk, and township highway commissioner candidates. According to Illinois election law, the winning candidates’ names cannot be added to April’s ballot until final certification on March 14.
