Its been a cold winter and a lot of things happening around Lake County. From passing a Balanced Budget to the Together Summit. What an exciting opportunity to meet and build new alliances with other Lake County leaders and discuss how we can all work together and improve the health of Lake County and prepare for the future.

It was nice attending the Round Lake Area Chamber of Commerce Mayor Luncheon and hearing the good things happening around the communities. All of the Mayors including Mayor Richard H. Hill and Mayor Terry Lumpkins gave a great overview of things happening in their villages. It is always a pleasure seeing Sherry Ridge on the left.

She is one of the long standing members of the Round Lake Area Chamber and she is also on the Board of Directors.
A lot of work needs to be done and as always, I try to be a voice of reason and fiscal responsibility while representing our district on the Lake County Board and Forest Preserve District.
I am looking forward to a great year here in Lake County!
Respectfully,
Tom Weber

In 2016, the Lake County Division of Transportation studied
four travel corridors to look at signal timings during peak travel times in the
morning, mid-day, and in the evening. The overall results of the study show
that technology enhancements, adjusting the signal timings, and coordinating
the signals through the Lake County PASSAGE system led to a reduction in
vehicle delays (477.8 hours) and a reduction in fuel consumption (318.2
gallons) per day. Not only does this save money, approximately $3.1 million a
year, but this also means less time stuck in the car and more time doing the
things you want to do. An added benefit of the study was a reduction in CO2
emissions by 566 metric tons per year. Learn
more about the study.

Maple Syrup Hikes
Stroll
through a maple woodland while learning about the sweet sap of sugar
maples. Ryerson Woods in
Riverwoods is one of few places in Lake County where conditions are right
for maple syrup production and where trees grow to a diameter and height that
allows for tapping. Hikes will be offered from noon to 2 p.m. every half hour
the last three weekends in March. Registration is required. Learn more |
