More than 700 residents recently
participated in Lake County’s first Telephone Town Hall meeting. Participants
learned about important issues that Lake County government has a role in from
property taxes, to jobs to traffic congestion. Some even shared their questions

Forest Preserve Board Reelects Maine and Myself to Board Leadership I am honored to be reelected by the Forest Preserve Board of Commissioners to serve as vice president of the Lake County Forest Preserves. The Board also chose to retain Ann Maine of Lincolnshire (District 21) for a fourth consecutive term as president. We will both will serve two-year terms, which will end December 2018. Learn more

Winter Recreation
Cold weather brings winter fun in your forest
preserves. Enjoy a solar-lit evening hike, sledding, cross-country skiing,
snowmobiling, ice skating or ice fishing this season. Before heading out, check for status

Winter Habitat Restoration Projects This winter, the Forest Preserve's well-trained crews will remove invasive woody species, primarily buckthorn, autumn olive, sandbar willow and honeysuckle from forest preserves across the county. A total of 27 restoration projects are scheduled this season, including 447 acres of woody clearing, 70 acres of forestry mowing, and 170 acres of small invasive tree and shrub removal. Textile Recycling Program
Help reduce landfill space by bringing old or unwanted textiles of all kinds to one of these drop off locations to be repurposed or recycled.
Household Chemical Waste Drop Off Events
Keep our environment clean by disposing of chemicals safely. Schedule a
household chemical waste recycling appointment for Jan. 14 or 23 at the
Solid Waste Agency of Lake County facility, 1311 N. Estes St., Gurnee. Acceptable Items

The Illinois Secretary of State's office is
launching a new license plate replacement program beginning in January to
replace the oldest license plates with newly designed plates. Vehicle owners
will be notified by mail if they qualify for the new license plates. If you are
not up for replacement, you may request a new license plate in January at www.cyberdriveillinois.com for a $29 fee. In addition, vehicle owners with license plates
manufactured after 2001 that are showing signs of wear and are difficult to
read may visit www.cyberdriveillinois.com to apply for a newly designed plate at no charge.

Visit the Dickens
Holiday Village outside on the sidewalks of downtown Antioch now through Dec.
25. Each character exhibit has a plaque which describes the scene you are

Lake Villa District Library To Have New Address There will be a new address to the Lake Villa District Library. Planned at 38110 N. Munn Road, Lindenhurst, the new library will include collaborative spaces for small groups to work and study as well as state-of-the-art technology including plenty of ports and charging stations.
