Residents often ask –
what does the County do? The Lake County Board invests in 300 miles of county
roads that you drive on every day, funds public safety and judicial agencies
that work 24/7 to keep your family safe, and supports healthcare programs that
contribute to the health and wellness of our residents and communities.
All of these and many other vital services are funded with about 7% of
your property tax bill, and the County Board is working hard to stretch every
penny. And, YOU have a say in how we prioritize and invest your tax dollars.
You’re invited to participate in our
first-ever Telephone Town Hall meeting Dec. 13 at 7
p.m. with Lake
County Board Chairman Aaron Lawlor. As the county board gets ready to update
its strategic plan next year, we want to know what is important to you.
During the Telephone Town Hall, we will discuss our current priorities,
and you will be able to share your thoughts and ideas to make our county even
better!
|
You can also submit
your thoughts and ideas to make our county even better through our “Community Voice” forum. It’s easy to join the conversation by signing
in and sharing your ideas for a better Lake County. Provide Input Now! |

Curbside
recycling helps keep so much waste out of our landfills, but did you know there
are items that you should not put in your recycling bin such as plastic bags,
Styrofoam containers and electronics. Watch our latest
edition of Lake County’s Dirty Jobs as County Board Chairman Aaron Lawlor
sorts recyclables at the Waste Management Recovery Facility and shares do’s and
don’ts of curbside recycling. |

Don’t Crowd the Plow
We just received our first
significant snowfall of the year! When plow trucks are out, remember to stay
back at least 50 feet or two to three car lengths, due to road conditions and
so the plow operators can see your vehicles. The Lake County Division of
Transportation’s snowplow operators are extremely safety conscious, but they
need your help. Stay back, and let them do their job of cleaning the road for
you. Don’t Crowd the Plow! Watch our video to learn more.
