Vote Early and Register at a Site Across the County
You can now vote and register at any early voting site regardless of where you
live in Lake County. Early voting will be available until Nov. 7. Hours and
dates vary at the 14 different locations. Find
your closest early voting site.
Vote from the Comfort of Your Home
Avoid
the long lines on Nov. 8 by filling out your ballot from the comfort of your
own home. It’s so easy
that even a couch potato can do it! To
request a ballot by mail, visit LakeCountyClerk.info and click on the “Vote by Mail” icon, call 847-377-2406, or email your
name and address to VotingbyMail@lakecountyil.gov. The final day to submit your application
is 5 p.m. Nov. 3.
Voting and Registering to Vote On Election Day
If you plan on voting on Election Day, you must vote at your
precinct’s polling location. To find which site you need to vote at, use our Polling
Place Locator. Be aware that voter registration also will be available in
all precinct polling locations on Election Day and at the County Clerk’s Office
in Waukegan.

your personalized ballot before heading to the polls? Log onto LakeVoterPower.info and confirm your registration. Then you can print your
ballot preview to take into the voting booth as a reference.
Don’t Throw Out Your Pumpkins. Compost Them
Drop off your pumpkins to be
composted between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5 at the College of Lake
County Grayslake campus parking lot 3. Pumpkins are full of nutrients, and are
great for the soil! This service is free. Learn more
Bring Household Chemical Waste To Gurnee
Collections
The Solid Waste Agency of Lake County
will hold its next household chemical waste collections Nov. 12 and again Nov.
28 at its Gurnee facility, 1311 N. Estes St., Gurnee. Collections
are for residential waste only, and all SWALCO household chemical waste
collections are free for Illinois residents. Appointments are required for the household chemical waste
events at the Gurnee facility to ensure safety and efficiency. Schedule an

Illuminated Trails
Guide the Way
With small solar lights to guide the way,
hikers, skiers and snowshoers can get some evening exercise along the 1.3-mile
fitness trail at Old School Forest Preserve in
Libertyville and along a 1.65-mile hilly section of the Millennium Trail
adjacent to the Winter Sports Area at Lakewood Forest Preserve in Wauconda. The illuminated trails and adjacent parking
lots will remain open after sunset until 9 p.m. daily from Sunday, Nov. 6 through
March 12, 2017. Learn more.
Get a 360-degree Look at Preserves and Trails
You
can now use Google Street View to get a 360-degree look at the entire Des
Plaines River Trail and also at Independence Grove, Heron Creek, Rollins
Savanna and Buffalo Creek forest
preserves.

Recorder of Deed's Office Offers Information To
Our Veterans The Lake County Recorder of Deed's Office offers various services to our
veterans and their families. This includes being the official keeper of
veteran’s military records, or DD214. The Recorder’s Office is happy to provide
veterans a free copy of this form upon the completion of a request for discharge
record.
Networking Event Open to Active Military and Veterans
Active military and veterans are invited to attend Roll Call North Shore, a
networking event from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Foss Park Golf Pavilion in

County Sheriff’s Office is leading by attending one of five town hall meetings at locations

The
Lake County Housing Authority will be accepting preliminary applications for
the Public Housing Scattered Site waiting lists now through Friday, Nov. 4. Preliminary
applications can be accessed online only for the Scattered Site 3 bedroom
units on the Lake County
Housing Authority website. All completed
applications will be accepted, however, only 300 preliminary applications will
be randomly selected using a computer generated lottery system.
The Lake
County Housing Authority also will open the Housing
Choice Voucher (Section 8) Waiting List. Preliminary
applications for the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) program will be
accepted Nov. 28 to Dec. 2. Preliminary applications also can be accessed only on the Lake County Housing Authority website. All
completed applications will be accepted, however, only 5,000 preliminary
applications will be randomly selected using a computer generated lottery
system.
Drop Off Your Letter to Santa Do your little ones enjoy
writing their letters to Santa each year? Drop off those letters at the Round Lake Area Park District's Robert
W. Rolek Community Center starting Tuesday, Nov. 1 through Dec. 2. In order to receive a
reply from Santa, all letters must have a clearly legible return address. No
postage is necessary.
Save the Date for Grayslake's Holiday Festivities Join the Village of Grayslake to see the fourth annual Grayslake Giving Trees display from noon to 8 p.m Nov. 25.
