Several people have contacted me to ask about the roadwork starting next week along Lake Cook Road. The Cook County Department of Transportation will be repairing two bridges. Traffic will be reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction west of Buffalo Grove Road and west of IL Route 21 for this work. According to this flyer from Cook County, the project is scheduled for completion later this fall.
If you haven't used the Lake County PASSAGE system before, this is a good opportunity to learn about this valuable resource for local traffic information. Check Lake County PASSAGE before you leave to get an idea of what impact this construction will have on your commute.
PASSAGE is an Intelligent Transportation System designed to provide motorists real time traffic congestion information through the PASSAGE website, email notifications, Twitter and radio 1620 AM. The PASSAGE website is mobile-friendly so no matter what device you are using, you can:
• View a map of current road conditions, construction and events, including crashes, stalls, debris, and other roadway incidents
• Get real time congestion information
• View camera images at major intersections
