Whether you’re looking for a parade, live music
and delicious food or a spot to set down your blanket and watch the fireworks
fill the sky, Lake County has lots of ways to enjoy Independence Day. Check Out Visit Lake County’s Guide to the

Barrington Fireworks:
Enjoy fireworks at dusk July 4 at Barrington High School, 616 W. Main St. Details
Barrington Lions Club Brat Tent: Come join the fun with live music, food and festivities all holiday weekend long. Friday, July 1 to Monday, July 4! Details
Hawthorn Woods Fireworks: Fireworks and
concert will take place July 3 at Community Park. The parade will begin at 10
a.m. July 4. Details

Did
you know that the Lake County Division of Transportation (LCDOT) is more than
just roads? LCDOT has about 60 miles of bike paths and bike lanes as part of
the Lake County highway system and continues to consider non-motorized travel a

Lake County is lucky to be
the home of 75 inland lakes and miles of Lake Michigan shoreline. Check out Visit Lake County, which includes a listing of
beaches to visit across Lake County including hours and attractions.
Make sure to check the Lake
County Beach Advisory page
provided by the Lake County Health Department and Community Health Center for
daily updates on inland and Lake Michigan beaches. Get information too using
the free phone application called myBeachCast.

Individuals
who struggle with substance abuse will be able to get directed quickly to
treatment through a pilot program launched by the Lake County Opioid Initiative
called “A Way Out. The program will be offered 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
at participating police departments across Lake County. Individuals, who
possess narcotics or paraphernalia, enter a participating police department and
tell an officer they are requesting help will avoid criminal charges as long as
the participant seeks assistance. Watch this video

Northern
Illinois tends to see an increase in ruse burglaries during the summer months,
and ruse burglars have already been striking in Lake County and surrounding
areas. A ruse burglary is a distraction technique used to lure homeowners
outside of their home. After the homeowner is outside the home and distracted
by one individual, another individual(s) enters the home typically targeting
items to steal such as cash, jewelry, and other items of value. View these reminders to help protect you
against ruse burglaries.

Join 25th annual Civil War Days
History
will come to life at one of the largest Civil War reenactments July 9 and 10 at
Lakewood Forest Preserve. Check out battles, period demonstrations, kids’
activities and Civil War-era shopping. More

Swim and play at Independence Grove beach
Grab your swimsuit, towel
and sunscreen, and head to the beach at Independence Grove in Libertyville. The beach offers 400
feet of sand along a 115-acre lake. The
beach gets even better on Family Fun Fridays with games, contests and prizes
around a different theme each week. The beach is open daily from
10 a.m. to 6 p.m. unless otherwise posted. Learn

Check out upgraded practice facility at
Countryside
Golfers
at Countryside Golf Club in Mundelein will be welcomed this year by an upgraded
practice facility. The driving range teeing area is now 30 percent larger,
allowing more than 60,000 square feet of perfectly manicured blue grass. The
teeing area drainage has also been improved to increase usability throughout

Walk on the wildflower side Uncover the secrets of wildflowers, and
learn about the folklore and healing powers they hold. Take a
leisurely guided walk in a different preserve each month. Along the way,
you'll learn to identify some of the lovely wildflowers found in Lake

Election judges work as a
team to administer the proper and lawful conduct of all elections by processing
voters in the voting sites. Each judge must be a Lake County registered voter
and fluently read and write English.
Required training is free and is offered at convenient
locations and times. Election judge pay is determined by level of training
completed and assignment.
