Update from The Autobarn of Evanston
November 12, 2014
To Our 8th Ward
Neighbors:
As
I am sure you are aware, The Autobarn of Evanston has begun renovation work at the 222
Hartrey Ave. property.
Our
first task was to systematically remove all of the asbestos within the
building. The asbestos abatement project started back in July and was deemed
all clear by the inspecting bodies of Cook County in August, with the
appropriate certification awarded.
The demolition phase of the work began in
earnest at the end of August and continues as we speak. Nearly the entire
interior of the building is being stripped clean down to the block walls and
interior steel structure. We expect the demolition work to conclude by the
beginning of December. Next will be the new roof – yikes!
Behind
the scenes, we are working diligently with our architects, and mechanical, electrical and civil engineers to iron out all of the final details in regard to structural,
mechanical, electrical, plumbing and
HVAC. We will be submitting for permit shortly.
It
goes without saying that we appreciate the cooperation of our great 8th
Ward neighbors, and we continue to be diligent in fulfilling the commitments
that we made to you.
As
work progresses, we’ll continue to keep you informed; our next report will come in January 2015. For more information, please contact me at 847-951-3360 or fish2556@gmail.com. Or, contact Peter Hett at 312-282-7524 or phett@theautobarn.com.
