Volunteer at Evanston's Biggest Block Party, "Streets Alive!"

Lakeshore

The City of Evanston will be closing down Main St. for its biggest block party ever, "Streets Alive!," on Sun., Sept. 7, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. 

The event will close the road to vehicles, buses, and other automobiles, and fill the streets with fun, free activities, games, shows, and events for people of all ages. 

Volunteers are needed for many tasks, such as running booths, tables, and games, directing traffic, helping with clean-up and set-up, handing out maps and information, and more. Register >>> 


Help Prepare Preschool Classrooms Sept. 2

School

On Tues., Sept. 2, the Child Care Center of Evanston is seeking volunteers to assist the teaching team as they prepare their classrooms for the new school year. Volunteers are needed from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. to clean and organize classroom materials for five preschool classrooms. Please note: There will be some lifting involved as well as climbing stairs. Help Clean the Arboretum & Canal Sept. 20

Ecology Center

On Sat., Sept. 20, the Evanston Ecology Center is looking for volunteers to help remove invasive plants, collect litter and enjoy several nature-related games and activities! Tools, gloves and trash bags will be provided on site. Please note: Volunteers under age 15 must be accompanied by an adult. Register >>>


Bike the Ridge Volunteers Sept. 28

Bike the Ridge

Volunteers age 16 and older are needed to help with traffic control during the 2014 Bike the Ridge event on Sun., Sept. 28, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

Ridge Avenue will be closed to ALL vehicular traffic from Howard to Church Streets. This event is limited to those on non-motorized bicycles only (motorized bicycles or skateboards are not allowed). Register >>>


Soup Kitchen Thursdays

Soup kitchen

Ebenezer A.M.E. Church is looking for women and men to volunteer at their soup kitchen on Thursdays, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Volunteers are needed to assist in food preparation, in addition to cleaning and setting up the kitchen and dining room. Register >>>
