 On Wed., May 7, at 7 p.m., the 16th Annual Aging Well Film Festival will feature the film, "I Never Said I Wasn't Happy," with an appearance by Chicago painter and filmmaker Sara Peak Convery and her mother, Janis S. Peak. The event, located at the Main Evanston Public Library, 1703 Orrington Ave., is free and no registration is required; however, seating is limited.
On Fri., May 9, the 16th Annual Aging Well Conference will be held from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Three Crowns Park, 2323 McDaniel Ave., providing strategies for healthy aging for older adults, their families, caregivers and professionals.  Whether you're new to learning Spanish or French, or simply want to refresh your memory, the Levy Senior Center has a course for you!
Beginning Spanish covers basic Spanish language tools for fun and functionality. The class meets on Tuesdays, May 6 through June 24, from 10 a.m. to noon.
Intermediate Spanish delves deeper into grammar, verb tenses, and listening comprehension. This course meets on Thursdays, May 1 through June 19, from 10 a.m. to noon.
Mesa Redonda is an opportunity for the hispanohablante to chat in Spanish in a supportive learning environment with experienced, like-minded individuals about a range of topics, such as the visual and performing arts, news, sports, and more! Take part in the conversation on Wednesdays, May 14 through June 25, from 10 a.m. to noon.
Beginning French for Travelers aims to assist a broad base of travelers, from the avid tourist or business person to the casual observer. Grammar, vocabulary and conversation basics for individual and group settings are covered. Allons-y! (Let's go!) Classes are on Mondays, May 5 through June 30, from 10 a.m. to noon.

 When's the last time you visited the Art Institute of Chicago? Whether it's been a month or a decade, there's always something new to discover!
The Levy Senior Center Foundation purchased two group memberships for the Art Institute, which will be used by our various art classes and by the membership in general. A bus will take a group of Levy members to the Institute on Tues., May 13, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The trip is open to the first 11 people who sign up at the Center’s front desk, so sign up soon!

 Thank you to all 325 participants who provided feedback on senior services in Evanston. Data from the survey will be compiled and shared at a public meeting on Fri., May 23, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the McGaw YMCA's Chinnock Lounge, 1000 Grove St., Evanston.

 Show off your spelling skills or cheer on participants at this year's State of Illinois Senior Citizens Spelling Bee Competition, hosted by the Levy Senior Center, Evanston Public Library and Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre. Last year, local senior Bruce Hirsch went on to the regional competition and advanced all the way to the state finals. Could this be your year?
The spelling bee will take place on Sat., May 31, at 3 p.m., at the Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center, and is open to anyone ages 50 or older. Stop by the Levy Senior Center today to register in person for this event.
