EVANSTON, IL - Join us in these upcoming events taking place in early December.
On Wednesday, December 1 at 6:30 p.m., Evanston playwright Ezzat Goushegir will discuss her currently running play "My Name Is Inanna" and The Free Theater Movement with Ali-Reza Mirsajadi, Maryam Abdi, and Max Truax, Artistic Director Of Red Tape Theatre.
Goushegir is an award-winning playwright, fiction writer and poet who has staged her plays internationally. They have been translated into French, Arabic and Mandarin and produced by theater companies in the U.S., Europe, China and the Philippines. Raw and brutal, “My Name is Inanna” is a passionate, lyrical story that blends myth and contemporary realities. This is a virtual event. Register here.
On Thursday, December 2 at 5:30 p.m. Evanston author Kevin Boyle will discuss his new book The Shattering: America in the 1960s, with Northwestern professor Peter Slevin. The Shattering focuses on the period’s fierce conflicts over race, sex, and war. Boyle captures the inspiring and brutal events of this passionate time with a remarkable empathy that restores the humanity of those making this history.
Kevin Boyle is the author of Arc of Justice, which won the National Book Award for non-fiction and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. He is a professor of history at Northwestern University.
