During this season of gratitude, the Evanston Public Library is celebrating the Power of Community, and it’s the perfect time to say THANK YOU to all our wonderful community partners.

EPL’s work is felt community-wide because we partner with many organizations in Evanston who believe just as deeply in caring for the Evanston community as we do.

Thanks to our partners, we can engage with our whole community and provide essential social services.

For example, did you know that, through our community partnerships, you can find mental health support at EPL?

  • EPL is one of only 4 libraries in Illinois that has a full-time social worker, through a program with AMITA Health. They can provide FREE help with loneliness, depression, substance abuse, conflict management, and mental health disorders.
  • Along with other members of a Mental Health Task Force, EPL hosts the “Mental Health is Essential” discussion groups in both English and Spanish. Partners on the Mental Health Task Force include NAMI, PEER Services, AMITA Health, and the Family Institute.
  • During the depths of the pandemic last year, EPL worked with the Evanston Community Foundation, AMITA Health, the City of Evanston and 311 to launch the Evanston Care Network, where you can find lists of free and low cost local mental health and other social services resources, such as affordable housing and food access, all in one website.
Therapy dogs at the Library

These and many, many other social service programs such as the Memory Cafe and the new Therapy Dog program, wouldn’t be possible without our community partnerships.

These programs are also made possible through the support of our Library donors. Your gift to the Evanston Public Library helps us REIMAGINE the work of the Library. Not just as individuals, but through the Power of Community. We are truly grateful!

Together, we are the Library.
