For Black History Month: Black stories from the past, present, and future.
1. Hitting a Straight Lick with a Crooked Stick: Stories from the Harlem Renaissance by Zora Neale Hurston (print, eBook, eBook on Hoopla, eAudiobook): This collection of short stories reveals African American folk culture in Harlem in the 1920s, including eight "lost" gems from a beloved author.
2. Black is the Body: Stories From My Grandmother's Time, My Mother's Time, and Mine by Emily Bernard (print, ebook): Twelve personal essays about race, about womanhood, about friendship..."Race is the story of my life, and therefore black is the body of this book."
3. Mothership: Tales From Afrofuturism and Beyond (print): An anthology of speculative fiction stories by and about BIPOC folks.

A portion of Church St. is being named for Morris "Dino" Robinson's contributions to Evanston as the founder of Shorefront. On episode 3 of The Check Out podcast he discusses local North Shore Black history. Celebration of Black Cinema: Grab-and-go buckets with Black movies are available at both Library locations, with popcorn, discussion questions and suggestions for what to watch next (while supplies last). Also included: a Black inventor bingo card—the more you collect, the more chances you have to win at teen and family bingo sessions later this month.
The Climate Resiliency Series continues through April, focusing on the global and local impact of climate change. Next up is Africa: Bearing the Burden of Climate Change, with Dr. Isidore Udoh, who will talk about growing up in Nigeria seeing the firsthand effects of climate change and pollution.
