To combat a surge in COVID-19 infections, Governor J.B. Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) announced new statewide COVID-19 resurgence mitigations effective 12:01 a.m. on Friday, November 20.
Evanston community centers will remain open; however, all indoor athletic programs, including ice activities, and facility rentals will pause in accordance with Tier 3 Resurgence Mitigations. Camp and non-athletic programs will continue while following all public health guidelines. Outdoor group activities will be limited to 10 persons or fewer. More information.

To ensure every Evanston family gets to celebrate this holiday season, Mayor Stephen Hagerty is encouraging all community members to participate in the 12th annual Mayor's Holiday Food, Book and Toy Drive.
Through Friday, December 11, the City is collecting new, unwrapped toys in addition to staple food items for holiday meals, including stuffing, green beans, yams, mac and cheese, corn and corn bread mix. The City is also collecting new and gently used children's books. Find donation locations and drop-off hours. For more information, please call/text 847-448-4311.
Online Cheesemaking Class
Learn the techniques for making your own cheese. We’ll cover the science behind cheesemaking, ingredients, equipment, and cooking techniques. Lemon cheese will be demoed. You will need the following supplies and ingredients 1/2 gallon whole milk (pasteurized, not ultra-pasteurized), juice of 2-3 large lemons (about 1/4 cup), non-iodized salt, herbs (optional), pot large enough to hold 1/2 gallon of milk, colander, large bowl (to catch the whey), large spoon (to stir the curd-whey mixture), cheesecloth (real cheesecloth, not the stuff from art or fabric stores), stove (for heating the pot of milk), string and a place to hang a bag of curd and whey.
