Grandparents Day is Sunday! If your children are lucky enough to know their grandparents or have a favorite older adult in their lives, perhaps it's a good time to interview them via video chat? Or try this fun card activity for kids to let someone special know: I love you berry much! The bond between kids and older adults means even more during this pandemic.
Ms. Louise has created a list of wonderful grandparent books for kids of all ages to check out and enjoy.
Celebrate Jewish culture and literature
Shana Tova (Good New Year) to our Jewish friends and families! What is Rosh Hashana? Watch this short video from Israel for kids to learn more. For a sweet new year, people eat apples and honey. Apple stamping is a fun craft for everyone celebrating fall and the apple harvest. For little ones, an apple cinnamon sensory bin is a great idea.
- There are three important Jewish holidays coming up: Rosh Hashana, September 18-20, Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the year, September 27-28, and Sukkot, October 2-9, a week long celebration of the harvest.
- Want to learn more about Jewish history and culture? The Sydney Taylor Book Awards celebrate "outstanding books for children and teens that authentically portray the Jewish experience." Mr Brian has compiled a list of recent Sydney Taylor award winners. Check them out!
- Ms Linda suggests three funny Jewish-themed K-3rd grade books on Tumblebooks to enjoy right now: Clever Rachel, Can Hens Give Milk? and Sack Full of Feathers. (Search using the TumbleSearch feature in the top right of the screen)
