Get an inside look at the Evanston Police Department! Applications are now being accepted for the spring 2019 Citizen Police Academy. The program meets on Wednesday evenings, 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., February 27 through May 22. Apply by Sun., Feb. 10.

Celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s Legacy

Rev. Eddie P. Reeves will recite Dr. King's "I Have a Dream" speech at the Evanston Public Library.


Celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in Evanston. Events include a Day of Celebration and Evanston Unity at the Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center, drop-in crafts at the Evanston Public Library, Y.O.U.'s Diverse Communities United, Northwestern University candlelight vigil, and many more.

'Word' Art Exhibition Opens Friday

"Word" exhibition art


An opening artist reception will be held for "Word," an exhibition honoring Black history, on Fri., Jan. 11, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Noyes Cultural Arts Center's 2nd Floor Gallery. The exhibit, which features the work of Evanston artists Ben Blount and Melissa Blount, will be on display through March 7. Admission is free.

Christmas tree pickup continues through Fri., Feb. 1 on residents' regular trash and recycling collection day. Trees should be placed on the parkway and all decorations should be removed.
