Levy Walking Club Begins December 4

Senior walking

Walking is easy on the joints and great exercise for all ages. Grab a friend or come solo and meet with the group to stroll around the beautiful City of Evanston. Starting on December 4, the group will walk every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. You must be a Levy Center member to participate.

We will meet inside the Levy Center lobby. If it’s too cold or wet, we’ll move walking into the Levy Center's “indoor track.”  Please see the holiday schedule below; the club won't walk indoors on days that only the lobby and office are open.

Attend Levy Lecture December 11

Ava Thompson Greenwell

A free lecture, "Mission Possible: Chicago's Free South Africa Movement," featuring film producer and director Ava Thompson Greenwell, PhD., will take place on Tuesday, December 11 at 1 p.m. This new documentary film traces the birth, growth, and maturation of the anti-apartheid movement in Chicago from 1980 to 1994. Chicago activists played a major role in putting pressure on the South African government to end apartheid. Mission Possible documents the Chicago connection that led to the release of Mandela, and ultimately, to the first free elections for black South Africans. We will see a sneak preview of the film and hear from Ava Thompson Greenwell about its origins. Please register in advance. The Levy Lecture Series is sponsored by the Levy Senior Center Foundation.
