Help Design Mayor Hagerty's Holiday Card!

Young Evanston artists are invited to submit their designs for Mayor Hagerty's holiday card! The contest is open to all Evanston residents of K-12 school age. The deadline to submit designs is Sun., Oct. 21 at 8 p.m.

Evanston Fire Department Open House Sunday

As part of National Fire Prevention Week, the Evanston Fire Department will host an open house this Sun., Oct. 7, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Fire Station 2, located at 702 Madison St. The event will include rescue and safety demonstrations, a children's firefighter challenge course, equipment displays, refreshments and more.

Fall Bulk Trash Pick-ups Begin this Friday

Fall bulk trash collection will take place this Fri., Oct. 5 for residents whose normal refuse collection day is Tuesday. Pick-ups continue Fridays through October 26. View the complete schedule and guidelines.

Hispanic Heritage Month ¡Fiesta! October 14

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with Latinx businesses! The ¡Fiesta! celebration will take place Sun., Oct. 14, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., at the Levy Center, and will include music, vendors, entertainment, a Selena contest, and more. Food will be available for purchase. This event is free and open to all. Registration is requested.

Enjoy October Events at Northwestern

There's a lot happening at Northwestern University this October! Community events include homecoming festivities, trick-or-treat, a humanities festival, lectures, athletic events and much more.

Celebrate Oaktober in Evanston 10/6

Celebrate Oak Awareness Month at the fourth annual Oaktober Festival! The free event will take place this Sat., Oct. 6, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., at the Evanston Ecology Center, and will feature fun nature activities for all ages.

Fountain Square Dedication 10/13

Evanston American Legion Post 42 will dedicate the newly renovated Fountain Square on Sat., Oct. 13. The program will take place from 10 a.m. to noon.

Ward Meetings

5th Ward Meeting 10/10

Ald. Robin Rue Simmons will host a 5th Ward meeting on Wed., Oct. 10, 7 p.m., at Family Focus, 2010 Dewey Ave.

2nd Ward Meeting 10/11

Ald. Peter Braithwaite will host a 2nd Ward meeting on Thurs., Oct. 11, 7 p.m., at the J.E.H. Education Center, 1500 McDaniel Ave.

Help Develop Evanston's Affordable Housing Plan

Mayor Hagerty invites community members to help guide the development of Evanston’s Affordable Housing Plan. Apply to serve on the City's Affordable Housing Plan Steering Committee by Wed., Oct. 17.

2019 Budget Discussions Planned 10/9-24

Informal discussions regarding the proposed Fiscal Year 2019 budget will be held throughout Evanston between October 9 and 24. The proposed budget will be available by the end of the day this Fri., Oct. 5.

EPL Seeks Public Input on Equity Assessment

Community members are encouraged to read the Evanston Public Library's Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Assessment and provide their feedback by Wed., Oct. 31.
