Avoid the Snow: City Parking Garages to Open Tonight at 5 p.m.

Five Things to Know When It Snows


To assist plowing operations and to make parking more convenient for residents, the City will open all three downtown parking garages for free parking beginning tonight, Thurs., Feb. 8 at 5 p.m. through Sun., Feb. 11 at 11:59 p.m. Garages are located at:

  • Sherman Plaza, 821 Davis St.
  • Maple Avenue, 1800 Maple Ave.
  • Church Street, 525 Church St.

A Snow Route Parking Ban affecting main streets is anticipated for Friday evening, between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m., and Snow Emergency even/odd parking restrictions affecting side streets are expected for Saturday and Sunday, between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. The City will announce declared parking restrictions following accumulated snowfall. Summer Camp Registration Begins Saturday

2018 Summer Camp registration begins this Sat., Feb. 10, from 8 a.m. to noon! Evanston residents who live in zip codes 60201 and 60202 can register for summer camps online from the comfort of their homes on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note: New online accounts must be created at least 24 hours in advance of registration. Registration will also be available in person at the Levy Center only. No phone registrations will be taken on this date.

We Love Evanston Party

Final Improvements to Emerson, Ridge, Green Bay Corridor Begin February 12

During the weeks of February 12 and February 19, final traffic improvements will be made on Ridge Avenue as part of the Emerson, Ridge and Green Bay Corridor Project. Work will take place on weekdays, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Improvements include the installation of a mast arm pole on Ridge Avenue north of Clark Street with overhead signs directing motorists to use the proper lane as they approach the Emerson, Ridge and Green Bay intersection.

Residents and visitors are reminded to avoid walking on shelf ice that builds up along the lakefront. Walking on shelf ice is extremely dangerous for people and pets. Please stay on the sand.
