Callan Avenue Widening and Street Resurfacing Project Begins August 21

The City will be contracting street improvements on Callan Avenue, from Howard Street to Brummel Street, beginning the week of August 21. The project is expected to last six weeks.

The project will involve widening of the roadway to 24 feet to accommodate parking on both sides of the street. Work will also include concrete curb and sidewalk ramp replacement as needed, road base repairs, milling of the existing asphalt surface and repaving with two layers of new asphalt pavement.

The exact date construction activities are scheduled to begin will be noted on temporary construction zone “No Parking” signs posted a minimum of 48 hours in advance of the work. Parking will be prohibited during daytime work hours (7 a.m. to 5 p.m.) during this time. Street cleaning parking restrictions will be waived for a one-block radius around the construction zone when temporary daytime “No Parking” is in effect. Lawn sprinkler systems located in the parkway or adjacent to the public sidewalk should be identified and marked by the property owner prior to the start of construction to prevent damage to the system. Every effort will be made to minimize any inconveniences during construction.
