EVANSTON POLICE INVESTIGATE SHOOTING
On Monday, August 14, 2017, at approximately 2:45 AM, officers were dispatched to the intersection of Howard Street and Chicago Avenue in reference to a gunshot victim. According to witnesses, the victim, who is a 25 year old male was involved in a physical altercation with another male subject. During the altercation, the victim was shot one time in the head by the suspect. The suspect fled the scene northbound on Chicago Avenue. The victim was transported to St. Francis hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Several witnesses have been located and are currently cooperating with investigators.
Evanston police detectives along with members of the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force (NORTAF) are currently investigating the incident. The intersection is currently closed due to the investigation and traffic is being rerouted. The suspect is described as a male/black, 25 years of age, approximately 6'0" tall, medium build, wearing a white T-shirt and black pants.
