Important Information for Dog Beach Opening

In preparation for the start of the 2017 Dog Beach season this Sat., April 1, here is some important information to keep in mind:

  • Due to lake and beach conditions, the entrance to the Dog Beach has been moved to the south end of the beach for the 2017 season. The beach is located at its previous location north of the Church Street Boat Ramp.
  • The Dog Beach will be closed for cleaning every Tuesday from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m.
  • Please keep dogs off the rocks on the south end of the Dog Beach. Dog owners/handlers must be in control of their dog(s) at all times.
  • Owners/handlers must bring their permit each time they visit the Dog Beach and show their permit to staff, when requested.
  • A caution sign has been placed in the middle of the Dog Beach to mark the location of a submerged object about 10 yards off shore. We've been unsuccessful in removing this object with current equipment, and will be attempting to remove the object with specialized equipment. Please exercise caution in this area.
  • In mid-April, when the water is turned on, we'll be putting a hose out for everyone to use at its usual location outside of the north end of the Dog Beach.

2017 Dog Beach permits continue to be on sale in the Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department at the Morton Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Ave., and at the Robert Crown Center, 1701 Main St.

Thank you for your continued support of the Evanston Dog Beach. We're looking forward to the opening of another season!
