  We've Moved!
After over a year of construction and years of planning, the first phase of our new shelter project is finally here: DCAS has moved into the new shelter addition off Manchester Road! The new addition offers a dedicated small animal room, cat play spaces and meeting rooms, an indoor playroom for people and shelter pets, window spots for kitty sunbathing, additional dog kennels, improved facilities for our staff, and so much more! These spaces are still getting some finishing touches, so please pardon our dust when you visit us.
Our new Address and Main Entrance:
2255 Manchester Road, Wheaton, IL 60187
We would never have reached this amazing milestone without the support of our amazing community. I am constantly in awe of our residents and their passion for protecting animals in DuPage County.

But We're Not Done Yet!!
While there is a lot to celebrate with this step, we still have a long way to go. Now that staff operations have moved into the new addition, demolition and remodeling has started on the original building. Our animal medical and surgical team is occupying a small room in the addition while an entire veterinary suite is built in the original building. The improved veterinary spaces will allow for more appropriate standards of operating and care for our shelter pets.
How Can You Help?
Our incredible partners at DuPage Animal Friends are working hard to raise the remaining funds for this project. Please help:
-
Spread the Word: Share our journey with your friends and family. Let them know how tirelessly the staff and volunteers are working to provide the best possible care for homeless pets in DuPage County.

Donate: Did you know you can have part of the new shelter named for you or a loved one? Check out other amazing ways to support us on DAF's website!
-
Foster/Adopt: We're doing our best to keep the animals comfortable during the construction, but the best play for them is in a home!
-
Visit us - Online! While we would love to show off the improvements right now, we are still an active construction site. Please use our website and social media sites to follow our progress and conduct any business you need.
We are so excited for the changes coming to DuPage County Animal Services over the next few months. Gwen joins DCAS while studying for a Biology degree. A born and raised Wheaton-ian, Gwen has been interested in domestic animal care her whole life. She’s previously worked at the Lyman Woods Interpretive Center and with the DuPage Forest Preserve in Natural Resources Management. She most excited to meet the wide variety of domestic animals we care for at DCAS, learn their personalities, stories, and prepare them for their best possible futures. She sees her work at DCAS as a wonderful way to contribute to animal welfare for DuPage County.
When not studying for school or working, Gwen enjoys spending time with her pet cat Moomin, reading, video games, and indulging in a fantastically special hobby: entomology – the study of insects. Her favorite insect, the house centipede, can run up to 16 inches per second and regrow lost legs.

Meet Snowflake, a resilient and adorable white lop rabbit with a heart as big as his floppy ears! Snowflake's journey hasn't been easy-he arrived at the shelter in heartbreaking condition, urine-soaked and suffering from scalded skin, a clear sign of a past filled with neglect. But this little survivor is proof of the power of care and love.
After the wonderful support provided by DuPage Animal Friends and his foster family, Snowflake's skin has healed, and he's blossoming into a clean and confident bunny.
Snowflake is as sweet as can be, with a social and affectionate personality. He loves attention and gentle pets, and he's even got a little bit of sass that will keep you smiling! He gets zoomies a few times a day with adorable bunny hops. If you're ready to open your heart and home to a bunny who's ready for a second chance at happiness, Snowflake could be the perfect addition to your family. Click his photo to watch this chubby-cheeked cutie master a stacking cups food puzzle.
