Thank Your For Being A Friend

🎶Thank you for being a friend.
Travel down the road and back again.
Your heart is true, you're a pal and a confidant.🎶

We are all thankful for our friends, our BFFs, our ride or die besties. We couldn't imagine life without them. Bentley & Brooklyn and Rizzo & Pelusa know how important friendship is, that's why they are looking for homes that have love enough for two!

As both pairs of besties are seniors they can be adopted for a discounted fee as part of DCAS's Golden Girls (and Boys) promotion in which a senior's adoption fee = their age.

Bentley (8yrs old) and Brooklyn (13yrs old) can be adopted for just $21. Pelusa (10yrs old) and Rizzo (9yrs old) can be a part of your family for only $19. All pooches are up-to-date on vaccines, spayed or neutered, and microchipped. Adoption fees include microchip registration.

Double up on love and adopt a pair of seniors today!

Boing

Boing! Is Ready To Bounce!

Boing! has picked out his Halloween costume. He has chosen to be Danny Zuko, leader of the T-Birds, Rydell High Greaser Gang. We think he pulls the look off flawlessly. He is ready to race out of here like Grease Lightening!

Boing! is still looking for that freedom ride and Animal Heartline Humane has pledged to transfer him into their foster program, but they need a foster family committed to caring for him.

If interested in fostering please complete a foster application at: http://www.animalheartline.org/volunteer/. With such a great community of animal loves we know that Boing! will find the family he needs!

Volunteer Spotlight

Amy

Meet Amy!

Amy (pictured on the right) is a kind, compassionate, enthusiastic volunteer that is dedicated to the dogs at DCAS! Always eager to learn, Amy has completed DCAS's rigorous Orange Paw curriculum which is geared towards expanding volunteers' knowledge and handling skills so that they may provide training and enrichment to the dogs most in need at DCAS. Amy can often be found engaging the minds of shelter dogs with puzzles, toys, and nosework. Not only has Amy dedicated herself to working with the dogs at DCAS, she is also a regular, smiling face at the shelter's Night Owl events, and has created engaging and unique content to market available dogs on the shelter's social media. Recently, Amy combined her love of Halloween with her passion for enriching the lives of shelter dogs and created a Pumpkin Spice Enrichment Day that included costumes, apple bobbing, and pumpkin destruction! We are so grateful to have Amy's fun-loving, creative, compassionate self at DCAS! Thank you Amy!

Training Tip: Celebrating Howl-O-Ween

Boing 2

Howl-O-Ween is right around the corner and ghosts and goblins will be out in force. While people have a spook-tacular time celebrating the festivities, our pets typically experience more fright than fun. Never fret, you can set your pet up for success and help them enjoy the celebration comfortably.

Create A Positive Association

Counter-conditioning and desensitization are effective training tools to help an animal turn a frightening experience into fun. By slowly introducing a new, and possibly stressful, stimulus slowly and pairing it with a positive reward you can help your pet feel more comfortable and confident. Check out this great how-to article from Animal Humane Society.
