Duckling - EXTREMELY URGENT Arrived on: 5/22/2019 Gender: Neutered Male Age: 10 months Status: Foster Needed to Fulfill Rescue Pledge
HELP US SAVE Duckling! Duckling is a handsome 10 month old APBT mix at DCAS who needs your help NOW. Duckling came to the shelter as an owner surrender. When he arrived at the shelter Duckling's owner revealed that he had never been outside before, not even to potty! Duckling had spent his entire 10 months of life in an apartment with no exposure to the outside world. This means that Duckling is experiencing EVERYTHING for the first time. Because the world is such a big, new, exciting place Duckling is in need of an experienced family to teach him how to absorb all this new information calmly.Rescue partners Chi-Town Pitties and Animal Heartline Humane Association have committed to saving him by pulling him into either of their rescue programs IF a qualified foster can be found (rescues can only save as many dogs as they have foster homes for). Due to his size, strength, and his tendency towards over arousal, Duckling will require a foster who is experienced with handling dogs and is able/willing to work with him to learn self-control. Duckling will also require a foster home without children under 10 and ideally a home with another active dog that likes to play.
If you are interested in fostering and saving Duckling, complete an online Chi-Town Pitties or Animal Heartline Humane Association foster application. Our focus is on finding a qualified foster for Duckling and getting him transferred out to rescue as quickly as possible. Duckling IS NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION. For this reason, adoption inquiries will not be responded to. Please share Duckling...we’re holding out hope that his hero is out there somewhere!
Thank you Chi-Town Pitties, Inc. and Animal Heartline Humane Association for pledging to save Duckling if a foster can be found.
Kendall – EXTREMELY URGENT Date received: 4/29/19 Breed: German Shepherd Mix Gender: Female (spayed) Age: 1.5 years Status: Fosters needed to fulfill rescue pledge
On April 29th Kendall arrived at the shelter as part of a court case. Because she was "evidence" DCAS staff and volunteers were limited in how much time they could spend with her and what enrichment Kendall could be provided with. As a result, Kendall became stressed, anxious, and frustrated with kennel life. On July 23rd, Kendall finally became the property of DCAS and her world got a little bigger.
Kendall now enjoys long walks with volunteers, has experienced day trips to volunteer homes, and is regularly getting out to play. Despite this, Kendall continues to decline mentally and has now decided that she no longer wants to eat. Kendall needs out of the shelter NOW. Both German Shepherd Resue Inc and Magnificent Mutts & Meows Rescue have committed to bringing Kendall into their rescue programs. To make that freedom ride possible for Kendall a foster home is needed. Ideally, a foster home with German Shepherd experience (though breed knowledge is not required) and the ability to provide her with slow introductions to other dogs (or a home where Kendall will be the only pooch).
If you are interested in fostering and saving Kendall, complete an online German Shepherd Rescue Inc or Magnificent Mutts & Meows Rescue foster application. Our focus is on finding a qualified foster for Kendall and getting her transferred out to rescue as quickly as possible. Kendall IS NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION. For this reason, adoption inquiries will not be responded to. Please share Kendall...we’re holding out hope that her hero is out there somewhere!

Sweet & Sassy full-figured gal in search of a loving, committed relationship! Hi, I'm Sassy. I found myself at the shelter when my previous person lost his home and could no longer care for me. I'll reward you with snuggles (hope your lap is sturdy) and endless love! All I ask is that I be the only animal in the house please, I want to be the apple of your eye!
Adopt and make today the last day Sassy spends in a shelter!

Benny Arrived: 5/30/19 Breed: Pit mix Gender: Male (neutered) Age: 4 years Status: Available for Adoption or Foster
B-B-B-enny and the Jets. He's weird and he's wonderful! For Benny we're really keen. Strap on your electric boots and your mohair suit and come meet Benny at DCAS. Rock star Benny came to DCAS after a hard tour with his former manager (owner) that left him drained and unhealthy (see his before picture). Now this handsome lad is rested up, putting on some much needed weight, and is ready to find a home to call his own! Ready to rock out with Benny? Come by the shelter and meet him today!Benny, like many rock stars, can be a bit of a diva and does not like to share his toys so he would do best in a home with children 10 and older that can give him space to play!
Stop by the shelter during adoption hours and meet Benny! We promise you will fall in love!
