DiCianni Celebrates Autism Awareness Month with Gov. Pritzker

DuPage County Health and Human Service Chairman Pete DiCianni marks Autism Awareness Month in the state capitol with Patti Boheme, Executive Vice President of Little Friends Center for Autism, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker, and Christine Hammond, Project Manager for the Illinois Autism Task Force. DiCianni and Boheme serve as co-chairmen of the Illinois Autism Task Force.

Telecommunicators Week

Noonan Honors First Responders with Telecommunicators Proclamation

Chairman Dan Cronin, Emergency Telephone System Board Committee Chairman Sean Noonan, and ETSB Board members Grant Eckhoff and Julie Renehan presented a proclamation to 911 dispatchers in honor of National Telecommunicators Week, which was celebrated April 14-20.

Graue Mill Flood Control Project Wins Award

County Board Chairman Dan Cronin and Stormwater Committee Chairman Jim Zay accepted awards from the American Public Works Association for the Graue Mill Flood Control Project, which was named Environmental Project of the Year.

DuPage County Forms Complete Count Committee

DuPage County has formed a Complete Count Committee to ensure all residents are counted during the 2020 Census. Federal and state officials rely on population data derived from the Census to allocate funds to the County and local units of government. A complete and accurate Census count is vitally important.

County Awards Nearly $1 Million to Local Nonprofits

DuPage County recently awarded nearly $1 million to more than 60 local nonprofits through the Human Services Grant Fund, partnering with agencies that serve the most vulnerable residents of the county.

DuPage County Board member Sean Noonan joined Transportation Committee Chairman Don Puchalski and member Jim Zay to thank County transportation crews for keeping the streets clear at the yearly end-of-snow-season lunch.

DuPage County Receives 3 NACo Awards

DuPage County was honored to receive recognition from the National Association of Counties for three local initiatives. The First Offender Call Unified for Success (FOCUS) program launched in 2018 as an alternative to incarceration to provide drug treatment and rehabilitation services to eligible non-violent offenders. DuPage’s Stormwater Management Department received an Achievement Award for its Water Quality program and a Best in Category Award for its Shared Services program. DuPage Receives Solar Energy Designation

DuPage County was awarded a SolSmart designation for its efforts to make it easy for home and business owners to go solar. Read more about DuPage County's national SolSmart Bronze designation.

North Westmont Fire Protection District

Chairman Recognizes Westmont for Consolidation Efforts

Chairman Dan Cronin presented a certificate of appreciation to Westmont Mayor Ron Gunter, Westmont Village Manager Steve May, and Westmont Fire Chief Steve Riley for their efforts eliminating the North Westmont Fire Protection District. Following a survey of residents in 2016, officials in Westmont pursued dissolution of the North Westmont Fire Protection District. The action eliminated the district’s annual tax levy and forgave the district’s debt, totaling $300,000 over five years. An additional $11,000 in annual administrative expenses will be redirected to support fire services now provided to those residents by the Village of Westmont’s Fire Department at an equitable rate for all residents.

County Presents Autism Awareness Proclamation

Chairman Dan Cronin and Health and Human Services Committee Chairman Pete DiCianni presented an Autism Awareness Month proclamation to Theresa Forthofer, President and CEO of Easter Seals of DuPage and Fox Valley Region. Easter Seals assists families living with autism and other developmental disabilities.
