Clear The Shelters Recap

On Saturday, August 18th, DuPage County Animal Services teamed up with Telemundo and NBC 5 to Clear the Shelters! Adoption fees were waived for all cats and dogs 6 months of age or older and kittens and rabbits were adopted for a reduced fee. Rescue partners: Bunnies United Network, Underdog Railway Rescue, and Feral Fixers came out to join in the festivities. Living Water Artistry provided whimsy with animal themed face painting and Dog Is Good met visitor's shopping needs!

DCAS had many successful adoptions. Check out our final adoption count below! If you weren't able to make it out for the event don't fret! DCAS still has many of wonderful animals available for adoption. Of course, we would be happy to see you next year when we partner with NBC and Telemundo once again to help empty the cages and Clear the Shelters nationwide!

UnderDog Craig with his furever person!

An UnderDog No More

After Clear the Shelters Craig was STILL looking for forever! He had been at the shelter for 9 MONTHS. That's 9 months of waiting, 9 months of being passed over, 9 months of hoping. Most dogs would begin to struggle after all this time, lose hope, stop wagging. Not Craig! He remained just as optimistic as ever, always smiling, still dreaming! We made a promise to him that we would find him the family he's been looking for, help us keep that promise.

On Saturday, August 25th we were able to keep our promise and Craig's wait was over! This sweet, happy, wriggly boy has found his furever with a wonderful woman committed to continuing his training and providing Craig with all the love and affection he had been dreaming of those long 9 months! We couldn't be happier for Craig and are so excited to hear about the wonderful adventures he will have in his new home!
