Upcoming Railroad Crossing Closures and Detours

Location – FAU 3514 Algonquin Road at Union Pacific Railroad (UP) crossing located west of Wolf Road, in the City of Des Plaines, IL.

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), in conjunction with Union Pacific Railroad (UP), is planning to repair the badly deteriorated at-grade railroad crossing on Algonquin Road west of Wolf Road in the City of Des Plaines, IL, Cook County.  Algonquin Road will be fully closed to through traffic at the UP Railroad tracks.  The closure will begin on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at 9:00 AM and conclude on or before Sunday October 31, 2021 at 9:00 AM (Weather Permitting). 

The posted vehicle detour route for eastbound traffic on Algonquin Road is to proceed south on Mount Prospect Road, east on Oakton Street, north on Wolf Road back to Algonquin Road.  The posted vehicle detour route for westbound traffic on Algonquin Road is to proceed south on Wolf Road, west on Oakton Street, north on Mount Prospect Road, back to Algonquin Road.  


Location – US Route 12- Rand Road at Union Pacific Railroad (UP) crossing located south of Golf Road, in the City of Des Plaines, IL.

The Union Pacific Railroad (UP), is planning to repair the badly deteriorated at-grade railroad crossing on US Route 12- Rand Road south of Golf Road in the City of Des Plaines, IL, Cook County.  US Route 12- Rand Road will be fully closed to through traffic at the UP Railroad tracks.  The closure will begin on Monday, November 1, 2021 at 9:00 AM and conclude on or before Wednesday November 3, 2021 at 5:00 PM (Weather Permitting).

Location – Oakton Street at Canadian National Railroad (CN) crossing at Bittersweet Court located in the City of Des Plaines, IL.

The Canadian National Railroad (CN), is planning to repair the badly deteriorated at-grade railroad crossing on Oakton Street in the City of Des Plaines, IL, Cook County.  Oakton Street will be fully closed to through traffic at the CN Railroad tracks.  The closure will begin on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at 9:00 AM for 5 days (Weather Permitting).
