IDL Battling 49-Acre Midnight Fire North of Ola
Ola, Idaho – IDL fire personnel responded to a wildfire reported early this morning at 12:43 a.m. MT in Gem County. The Midnight Fire is located approximately six miles north of Ola, Idaho, roughly five miles east of 3rd Fork Road.
This 49-acre fire started in an area with challenging access, but 30 firefighters including IDL and contracted personnel, one engine and one dozer are on scene aggressively, yet safely, working to suppress it. IDL is grateful for assistance provided by personnel from Gem County Fire Protection District #2 in Sweet, Idaho, who responded early this morning.
While no structures are threatened at this time, if evacuations become necessary, they will be ordered by the Gem County Sheriff’s Office.
Although the incident is currently 0% contained, fire managers expect full containment by 8:00 p.m. MT on Friday. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
