Location: Moyie river south of IFG mill

Estimated Size:  3 acres

Containment: 100%

Current situation: Mop-up in progress.

 

As of 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening, August 21st, fire crews have manually constructed a control line around 100% the Moyie Fire and have surrounded it with hose line. Crews have begun mop up operations and will remain on scene to monitor the area overnight.

 

The Moyie Fire burned about 3 acres up a steep slope from where it started near the bank of the Moyie River southeast of Moyie Springs, where it threatened the Idaho Forest Group lumber mill and nearby homes.

 

About 50 residences had been placed on alert for a potential evacuation earlier in the day, but the threat is now negligible. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Cooperating Agencies: Idaho Dept. of Lands, Boundary County Office of Emergency Management, Local fire fighters from Moyie Springs, Curley Creek, and North Bench, Boundary County Sheriff's Office.
