Quinn Fire Update 10:30 AM PT
Date of Origin: 08/16/2022 17:30 PT
Location: Breaks of Wolf Creek in the Joseph Plains Area
Estimated Size: 450 acres
Containment: 0%
Personnel: 150
Current situation
There are currently no structures threatened, no evacuations in place, and no road closures.
Fire crews are working to put a handline in place on the south side of the fire and a dozer line on the east side of the fire.
The plan is to concentrate work on the north side of the fire today and possibly conduct some burnouts to try to prevent the fire from moving forward.
The resources on the fire include four type 2 initial attack crews, one dozer, four engines, and aircraft as needed.
Haines Index (HI), which is a numerical value that indicates the potential for large wildfires to experience extreme fire behavior, is a six. This means there is a high potential for an existing fire to become large or exhibit erratic fire behavior because of a dry and unstable lower atmosphere.
Cooperating Agencies: Idaho Dept. of Lands, U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Fish & Wildlife, and potentially the Bureau of Land Management.
Additional information on the Quinn Fire will be posted as it becomes available on the IDL webpage at www.idl.idaho.gov/fire
