 It has been a very busy few months around ITS, especially as we prepare to onboard Health and Welfare as part of the final phase of IT Modernization in Idaho. ITS and DHW have been working closely to make sure we are ready to go for the June kickoff date. The energy around our office has been evident with new faces and projects taking shape.
Thank you to all our supported agencies for the trust and feedback you share with us as we finalize Governor Brad Little’s vision for IT consolidation in Idaho.

Phase 6 DHW
ITS hosted an open house for our incoming DHW employees who are bringing extensive experience and institutional knowledge for our final Governor’s agency consolidation. We know that as a team, DHW joining ITS will make us all stronger.

New ITS CFO
I am excited to announce that ITS has hired Michael Phelan as its new Chief Financial Officer. Michael will step into the role currently held by Tim Tower, who is retiring this spring.

ITS hosted its November 2025 hybrid liaison meeting in its new facilities at Building 4 on the Chinden Campus. Attendees who joined in person were offered a tour of the new workspace and an opportunity to reconnect with colleagues across the agency.

AI Use in Government and New Tools Available
ITS is unveiling two approved AI features for state users that offer secure, compliant AI assistance for both basic and advanced workflows.

The GIS team is working closely with the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery (ISVC) - Boise to deliver a new interactive cemetery map application for onsite and online visitors.

State of Idaho Cyber Defense Foils Holiday Attack
December 24, 2025 While most Idahoans were preparing for Christmas celebrations, ITS was hard at work defending against a sophisticated cyberattack. Dubbed Operation Grinch, the attack targeted the state’s Microsoft Office 365 environment in the late hours of Christmas Eve.

Who Let the Sawzall Out?
A renovation project at the Idaho Veterans Home in Boise led to a major IT disruption when a contractor accidentally severed about 100 network cables in the east wing—the hub for internet service to the entire facility.
