Director Cameron welcomes attendees of the 2024 Autism Law Summit

The Autism Law Summit is designed for a diverse audience of individuals interested in the legal aspects of autism and promoting inclusive policies.

Besides sharing fun facts about our great state to the audience—many of whom were first time visitors—Director Cameron discussed Idaho’s efforts in this realm, including the issuance of Bulletin No. 18-02. This bulletin issued guidance for ABA coverage for autistic children in Idaho, effective April 2018. The guidance affects individual, group and self-funded health plans regulated by the DOI.

Idaho became the first state to implement this broad change in this manner, with North Dakota and Wyoming following our lead.

State Fire Marshal: Cardiff gas station explosion and fire investigation continues

Investigators from the Idaho State Fire Marshal’s Office continued their investigation into the cause of an explosion and fire that occurred 9/11/2024 in the small rural community of Cardiff in Clearwater County. This has been one of the more complex investigations in the history of the State Fire Marshal’s Office. It is important to have all the facts and let the evidence lead us to exactly what happened. Two workers were critically injured and two patrons were tragically killed in the explosion. We owe it to the families to provide answers and help with closure.

State Fire Marshal assists Boise County Sheriff with Valley Fire

Ordinarily, the end of September would mark the end of the wildfire season. However, Mother Nature has dictated otherwise. A late-season windstorm and little to no precipitation resulted in wildfires that were once thought to no longer be a threat exploding with a great deal of intensity. The State Fire Marshal’s Office continues to monitor these fires for building losses, reporting directly to the Director of the Department of Insurance.

On October 4th, the Valley Fire caught the attention of many due to its proximity to the City of Boise and other surrounding communities. Boise Fire Department and mutual aid companies successfully kept this fire from invading homes and buildings near the fires edge. A predicted wind event helped the fire grow rapidly and threaten the communities of Robie Creek and Wilderness Ranch. State Fire Marshal staff were deployed to assist the Boise County Sheriff and local fire departments in the event evacuations were necessary and to monitor for spot fires.
