New governor's report outlines
10 priorities to reduce impacts of wildfire

On August 23, Director Cameron participated in Governor Little’s press conference to announce a new wildfire report.

The director shared takeaways from the Wildfire Risk Forum the DOI hosted in April, his experiences touring the Gwen and Paddock Fires this summer, and how the DOI is attending town halls in affected communities to assist them with their claims.

Director Cameron thanked the governor for his attention and leadership to this issue and the opportunity for DOI to participate in the wildfire workgroups that resulted in this report. He stated that this report is a good step towards ensuring Idahoans can get insurance on their homes.

Health insurance rates for 2025 now available to the public

Final 2025 premium rates for individual and small group health insurance plans have been released by the Idaho Department of Insurance.

Plans will increase by an average of 5% percent in the individual market, and 9% percent in the small group market. Each carrier’s justification of the 2025 increase amount is published alongside the rate increases on the Department website at: https://doi.idaho.gov/consumer/RateReview/.

RFP Open for Pharmacy Benefit Manager Contract Position

The Request for Proposal (RFP) is open for a contractor to help the DOI implement House Bill 596a related to Pharmacy Benefit Managers. The RFP opened September 4, 2024 and closes October 11, 2024. Anyone interested in learning more can visit the Division of Purchasing (DOP) website and search for Event #571.

published in the Idaho Administrative Bulletin 24-09
On September 23, 2024, the DOI held a public hearing to receive comments on the proposed rulemaking. The Notice of Proposed Rules - Negotiated Rulemaking Public Meeting can be found on the DOI website.

State Fire Marshal and Idaho wildfires

The State Fire Marshal's Office continues to support significantly increased fire activity throughout the state. Idaho has been experiencing an unprecedented number of wildfires this summer. The Lava Fire (southwest of Cascade) is shown here on September 8th.

DOI offers support before and after disasters

Consumer Affairs Officers Mindy Walters and Jim Scanlon attended the Cascade community meeting on September 10 concerning the Lava and Boulder Fires. They helped community members with insurance questions and concerns.

The DOI is available to help before and after the damage. Prepare today, do a personal inventory, video your belongings, and make sure you have correct phone numbers for your insurance company and agents, as well as access to copies of your insurance policies.

Deputy Fire Marshal teaches at National Fire Academy

Deputy Fire Marshal Javier Cervantes spent two weeks as an instructor at the United States Fire Administration's National Fire Academy. His classes included Fire Inspection Principles 2: Inspection of Structures and Systems, and Commercial Fire Sprinkler System Plans Review.

One of the students shared: "Javier’s knowledge and experience were quite evident and helpful. His ability to understand that geographically codes and standards are not uniform and his ability to navigate through the differences and guide the students was very helpful."
