Earth Day in the U.S. began in 1970 as 20 million Americans, from all walks of life, mobilized in an effort to change our environment. Today, Earth Day is celebrated by more than a billion people per year in 192 countries.
Arbor Day began 150 years ago, in 1872 and is similar to Earth Day because it celebrates nature. Arbor Day's specific purpose is to celebrate the planting, upkeep and preservation of trees.
Here in Norwalk we have scheduled clean up and tree planting projects for Tuesday, April 22 from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
We will help you plan ahead, and provide you opportunities to give back to make Norwalk a great place to live, work and play!

The Park and Recreation Department will host Mothers and their child(ren) for an evening filled with dancing, fun, light snacks, dessert and photo opportunities. If mom is not available, an aunt, sister, grandmother or mother figure is always welcome. All ages are welcome!

Norwalk Parks and Recreation partners with Norwalk Police Department, Fire Department and many sponsors to put on this event. Participants will bring their bikes and get their bike inspected as well as a ride on a safety course. There will be a speaker talking about bike safety. After completing the course, the group will be led on a bike ride in the area surrounding the Norwalk Public Safety Building. Bike helmets will be worn during the ride, a helmet will be provided for those in need. Each registered child will have a chance to win a brand new bike. You must be present to win. Parent volunteers are welcome and are encouraged to ride along with their child if under the age of 7. T-shirts are given to participants that have registered. Refreshments are provided. Parent/Guardian must stay at event.

Definitions:
A household is defined as all immediate family members residing at the same street address. This includes children of divorced parents who have joint custody, stepchildren, and foster children. Baby-sitters, cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and ex-spouses are not considered immediate family members.
A non-resident is defined as anyone living outside the Norwalk city limits.
High School Pass:Ages 9th - 12th grade must present a high school ID at time of pass pick up.
College Pass: Must be enrolled in college courses and present a college ID at the time of pass pick up.
Nanny pass: A pass for your nanny to take your children to the City State Bank Fieldhouse Monday - Thursday. Limit 1 per family.
Membership cancellation: You must notify the office a minimum of 5 days prior to your membership renewal date to cancel for the current month. Refunds will not be given.
