Pee Wee Tee Ball (Kindergarten) - Registration: April 29 - May 26 (late fee of $15.00 after deadline date until program is full) Program Information: June 25 (weather permitting) Tuesday and Thursday 6:00 pm and 7:00 pm Cost: $47.00 resident / $54.05 non resident
-- This is a coed program for children who are currently in Kindergarten. The children will have fun playing while learning the fundamentals of tee ball. Parents, this is a fun league, so sign-up to help if you can. There will be two weeks of practices and four weeks of games (dependent on number of teams). Team shirt provided. Volunteer coaches will be needed!
Bam Bam Blast Ball 4 & 5 (Pre-K)- Registration: April 29 - May 26 (late fee of $15.00 after deadline date until program is full) Program Information: June 25 (weather permitting) Tuesday or Thursday 6:00 pm and 7:00 pm Cost: $40.50 resident / $46.58 non resident
-- Bam Bam Blast 4 - This program is for children who are 4 years old by June 24, 2019. Bam Bam Blast 5 - This program is for children who are 5 years old by June 24, 2019 but NOT in Kindergarten. This is a coed league separated by age. Bam Bam Blast Ball is a simplified version of tee ball. The 4 year olds will hit off a tee and run to first base, which honks when they jump on it. The 5 year olds will hit off a tee and advance one base with each batter. Parents, this is a fun league, so sign-up to help if you can. There will be one week of practice and five weeks of games. Water Aerobics - Registration: May 16 - June 3 Program Information: June 4 - July 25 Tuesday & Thursday 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm Cost: $49.00 resident / $56.00 non-resident
-- Our aquatic workout is performed in the cool and relaxing pool atmosphere. Each class consists of a 60-minute aerobic workout that includes muscle toning for arms, stomach, hips, and legs along with flexibility and relaxation exercises. This program stresses going at your own pace. All exercises can be performed either high or low impact. You decided how hard you want to work. Mary Jane Sharp is the instructor.
{YEL!} Project Runway Sewing Summer Camp - Registration: May 13 - June 3 Program Date/Time: June 10 - June 14 9:00 am - 12:00 pm Cost: $127.00 resident / $146.05 non resident
-- {YEL!} Project Runway Sewing Camp follows four basic principles: TEACH IT!...Students are taught multiple hand and machine sewing techniques; PRACTICE IT!....Students practice those techniques on basic projects; SEW IT!....Students increase their skill and sew more complicated projects; OWN IT!....Students showcase their projects on the last day of class (family and friends are invited), then take everything home with them to walk the runway of everyday life! -- Norwalk Family Tae Kwon Do Master Jason Brooks will head the school. This school will offer programs for ages 5 through adults. The classes are separated by rank (beginner and advanced) and students meet twice a week
Little Dragons program is designed for children ages 5 to 7 (5 year olds must currently be in Kindergarten.) This class meets twice a week.
All programs consist of hand and foot techniques, forms, self - defense, lessons, and instructions on topcis such as respect, self-discipline, and perseverance. Competition is also available for those students who are interested. Competition teaches sportsmanship, gives confidence, and allows the students to use the skills they have learned in class.
Chess Summer Camp grades 1-12 - Registration: May 27 - June 7 Program Information: June 17, 18, 19, 20, and 21 10:00am to 12:00pm Cost: $15.00 resident / $17.25 non resident
-- Brent Walker, retired Norwalk HS teacher, will provide fun, informative and challenging chess lessons to students from the surrounding area. Chess is a fun game with lots of moves to improve student's logic, concentration, and critical-thinking skills along with important life concepts such as the ability to win graciously and accept defeat with dignity and sportsmanship. At the end of the camp, the student will receive a t-shirt and participate in a mini-chess tournament with a tropohy to the winner. This camp is open to all ages: 1st grade thru 12th grade (just completed).
Junior Golf Lessons - Registration: May 22 - June 3 Program Information: June 17 - June 20

-- Calling all beginner or experienced youth golfers! Brett West, Winterset High School Boys Golf Coach, is back in Norwalk to teach the life-long game of golf! These instructional lessons will focus on, and break down, each part of the golf swing! Different types of shots and situations will be taught, ultimately enhancing your golf skill level. -- Here is a fun and social way to introduce your child to the game of tennis. The scaled down net, posts, and racquets are designed for young children ages 4 to 6 years old. -- The next evolution in youth robotics is here! Build a seeing-sensing robot using LEGO Bricks, then program it to complete unique tasks and challenges. Next, build a rescue helicopter to find animals in need of assistance and message Headquarters with status updates. Students LEARN basic engineering and computer coding concepts; BUILD multiple LEGO Bricks projects; EXPLORE how the projects and programming complement each other; and PLAY with different building and programming options. Junior Police Academy - Registration: June 7 - June 21 Program Information: July 9 to July 12 (students who completed 3rd through 6th grade) 10:00 am to 12:00 pm Cost: $23.00 resident / $26.50 non resident
-- The Norwalk Police Department is again conducting the Junior Police Academy for the City of Norwalk. The program is a partnership between the Parks and Recreation Department and the Norwalk Police, and is an opportunity for the police officers to build a positive bridge with the youth of the community. Cadets will take part in fingerprinting, investigating a crime scene, taking photos, casting footprints, and misc police work. Each student will receive a tee shirt at the end of the week.
Art in the Park - Registration: June 3 - August 9 Program Information: (offered once a month through the summer) June 21 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm July 19 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm August 16 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm Cost: $17.00 resident / $19.55 non resident

-- {YEL!} Destination Mars: Rocketry Course is for students entering 2nd - 5th grade. Launch and watch your very own rocket speed 300 feet into the air! Then it is yours to take home. Students will make and take home multiple rockets of varying difficulty throughout this session. We will use these rockets and airplanes to investigate basic aeronautical concepts including: propulsion, thrust, lift, drag, and more. -- This fundamental program is for children entering 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade this coming school year. Children will learn offensive and defensive fundamentals of football. Parks and Recreation provides a team shirt. This is a six-week program; players will have practices/games twice per week. Fall Soccer (1st - 7th grade) Registration: June 10 - July 8 Program Information: Week of August 19 (tentatively) Cost: $51.00 resident / $58.65 non resident

-- {YEL!} Junior Coding and Video Games with Scratch is for 2nd - 5th graders. Each {YEL!} Coding class follows four basic components: TEACH IT!....Students learn different video games and storytelling design techniques (movement of blocks, control blocks, basic animation, adding scores, etc.) CODE IT!....Students use Scratch to code their own story and video games. EXPLORE IT!....Students can write their own story and video game code, experiment with it and test new options. Our collaborative learning environment encourages students to learn from each other.
