Join Recycling Coordinator Jane Wilch and Climate Action Coordinator Sarah Gardner for a fun, casual discussion of EVs great and small, from personal vehicles to the new city buses to the biggest EV on earth: the Komatsu Edumper.
Just like previous “Speaking of” discussions, there won’t be any slides or charts, but there will be plenty of opportunity to have your questions answered and learn some useful information along the way.

 Looking forward to spring planting season? Registration for Iowa City’s Community Garden Plot program is approaching.
Residents who rented a plot in 2021 can reserve their plot again from Thursday, March 3 to Friday, March 18. Online registration for new gardeners will open at 7 a.m. on Friday, April 1.

Fees for renting a garden plot range from $10 to $25.75 for Iowa City residents, depending on the size and location of the plot.

How do you take climate action?
I take climate change seriously; I know that one way that causes climate change is being wasteful. To prevent actions like that, I make sure that I recycle plastic, paper, and glass objects; not only that but I go around my neighborhood and parks to pick up any product that has been left on the ground and recycle them if needed.
Why does climate action matter to you?
Climate action matters to me because it saves the earth and all living creatures. If we don’t take action to protect our home, aka Earth, we are going to lose it.
What can others do to take climate action?
I know that everyone in some way is able to take action. For example, making sure that you recycle can be a good benefit or by educating yourself and others on what climate change is, how it affects us, and how to prevent it. I believe we can save our world one step at a time if we all do our part.
