Help us paint Iowa City's newest mural at the Resource Management Center (1306 S Gilbert Ct)!
Designed by area artist Erica Danner, it celebrates the role composting and healthy soils can play in helping us sequester carbon and will serve as a big "Thank you!" to the hard-working drivers of our recycling and compost trucks who work out of that building.

As dusk falls in Chauncey Swan Park, the City of Iowa City, in partnership with FilmScene, will show a free movie screening of "The Falconer." The experience will be further enriched by a film discussion and free kombucha.
Before the movie screening, area conservation and youth organizations will offer booths during the Wednesday Farmers' Market at Chauncey Swan Ramp.
Enjoy Iowa bands the Awful Purdies and the Cedar County Cobras at the Friday night, family-friendly concert at Willow Creek Park (1117 Teg Dr) from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Ben Snyder, Advertising for Climate Fest
During Climate Fest, you might see Ben Snyder pedaling throughout Iowa City with a banner behind his bike to help get the word out. If you do, be sure to give him a wave!
What do you do to take climate action?
My business Pedal Power is built on the foundation that bicycles are sustainable. Obviously, bicycles do not run on fossil fuel, but it is deeper than that. For example, bicycles are narrower so require less pavement, less maintenance, fewer materials and fewer taxes. Cycling is also a means for society to be physically and mentally healthier, which reduces public and private costs and energy used.
Why does climate action matter to you?
Climate action is a three legged stool. Firstly, caring for the environment is strategic. It saves money and makes us more efficient. And it is economically powerful. Not only should climate action be in our heads for logical reasons, but in our hearts. We all want to live in healthy clean communities. Companies want to relocate and grow in communities where their employees want to live. That starts with climate focus. We all love our homes and neighbors. Emphases on small and big initiatives make us stronger, more innovative, and resilient, thus climate action is a reflection of who we are. Like a good farmer we have to be good stewards of our organizations, neighborhoods and "third spaces." We are dynamic and humble as Iowans, and so this is how we must act towards climate change.
What can others do to take climate action?
There are many small things that we can do such as picking up litter, driving less/walking more, or maybe wearing that pair of jeans a second time. Small individual sacrifices create momentum. There are also many things that we overlook in everyday life that impact the environment. Learning more and being open to new ideas can help us discover how to make changes. And lastly, support local government initiatives through voting or just by asking questions.
