The City Council has officially approved Iowa City's Climate Action Plan -- an outline of practices that individuals, businesses, and institutions can implement to reduce the impact of climate change and help reach the City's emissions reduction targets.
At its Sept. 18 meeting, the Council unanimously voted to accept the plan. View the details of the plan online and check out the Climate Action Toolkit to help understand what can be done at the individual level to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Don't toss your pumpkins!
After all of the carving and candy fun, composting is a more environmentally friendly way to dispose of your pumpkins.
Curbside customers can place pumpkins in any 20- to 35-gallon upright container, or in an official City organics cart on their regular curbside collection day.
Non-curbside customers can bring their pumpkins and other compostable waste at no cost to the Iowa City Landfill and Recycling Center compost facility, 3900 Hebl Ave. SW.
