Downtown block party draws huge crowd
Iowa City was buzzing the night of June 24
for the first ever Downtown Block Party, featuring live entertainment, sand
volleyball, food and drinks. The Block
Party added a unique twist by allowing for beer and wine to be carried between
locations within the event area using designated, pre-purchased cups.
The
Iowa City Downtown District organized the event, and estimated that about 30,000 people came downtown for it. Attendees represented a wide
cross section of the community. This event was a success and enjoyed by
people of all ages. View photos.
