Flooding in Iowa
Flooding upriver from us can cause water to bypass treatment facilities. This means that sewage can enter the waterways and cause illness. Try not to get water in your mouths or wounds. Wash up after playing in creeks or streams.
Please be careful if traveling to locations in Iowa with flooding or high waters over the holiday weekend, and every day. Stay out of flood waters as much as possible:
- Currents can pull you down and risk drowning or injury
- Contaminants in the water can get on your skin
- Floating debris can cause injury
Get a tetanus shot if cut in flood water or helping with recovery efforts.
4th of July Safety
We don't want to be party poopers...we just want you to be safe.
1- Plan for a sober ride home. No one is a good drunk driver. The 4th of July is one of the deadliest times on Iowa roads according to the Iowa Department of Public Safety.
2- Use fireworks with caution. Keep water handy. Only shoot them off when sober. Provide children safer options.
3- Think about food safety throughout the day. If food that is supposed to be cold has been out for a couple of hours, throw it away. Same with hot food. No one wants to get diarrhea from your party.
Office Closures
Our office will be closed on July 4th in observance of Independence Day. We will re-open Friday, July 5th.
