During the month of February, Hy-Vee Dietitians will be offering 1,000 FREE Vitamin D screenings at select locations. Vitamin D is necessary for a variety of functions, including helping support strong bones, facilitating normal immune function, and aiding in the absorption of calcium. A simple finger stick is all you need to find out your vitamin D level.

The Volunteer Tax Assistance Program (VITA) program offers free tax help to families and individuals with incomes of $64,000 or less, persons with disabilities, limited English speakers, and older adults. VITA is available through United Way of Central Iowa and ISU Extension & Outreach in Dallas County.

CHW Professional Skills Training-Applications Open!
The Iowa Chronic Care Consortium is now accepting applications for the 2023-2024 CHW Professional Skills Training financial assistance. Enrollments are accepted on a rolling basis and training will begin in October. The Community Health Worker Registered Apprenticeship Program helps develop and build skills of new and seasoned community health workers and other front-line professionals committed to advancing community health.

As of August 1, 2023, new requirements have been set in place for those interested in becoming Make It OK Ambassadors. An Ambassador does not need to be an expert on mental health, but someone who enjoys connecting, engaging, educating, and promoting mental health awareness. Strengthening Families Facilitator Training
The goal of the Strengthening Families Program: For Parents and Youth 10-14 is to prevent substance abuse in youth by building their skills and giving parents more tools to help their children become responsible young adults.
