Get School-Ready this Summer!
It will be back-to-school time before we know it! Take time this summer to make sure your student's immunization record is up-to-date and schedule any needed vaccines.
Call your student's health care provider to schedule any needed vaccines early! Summer is a busy time. Make sure you are able to get an appointment before the school year starts. And, while you are on the phone to schedule that appointment, might as well schedule an annual well-child exam too.
Iowa Code requires students attending licensed child care centers and schools to receive required vaccines in order to prevent disease outbreaks among our children and those that support them. Student's without a valid certificate of immunization or exemption can be withheld from school, including school-based extracurricular activities.
All children have a right to vaccine protection. Children without health insurance, with insurance that doesn't cover vaccines, currently on Medicaid, or that identify as American Indian or Alaska Native can receive their immunizations through the Vaccines for Children Program at no cost. Simply call our office at 515-993-3750 to schedule an appointment.
The Monthly Health Promotion message is provided by the Dallas County Health Department for use in newsletters, social media messaging, or other communications.
