Senior Health Insurance Information Program
What is SHIIP?
The Senior Health Insurance Information Program, or SHIIP, is a free, objective, and confidential service through the state of Iowa Insurance Division. This program uses volunteers to counsel Iowans on Medicare and related health insurance issues so they can make informed decisions and avoid the risk of fraud.
 Who is eligible for SHIIP?
- Iowans who are about to turn 65, or are 65 and older
- Iowans who are under 65 and on Medicare because of a disability
- Caregivers, relatives or friends who work with or care for older Iowans
How do I connect with SHIIP?

You can also call 1-800-351-4664 to connect with a SHIIP counselor nearest you.
