Adel, IA
On January 12, 2023 at approximately 5:58 PM, Dallas County Dispatch received a 911 phone call of a 2 vehicle accident in the 27000 block of Highway 6. Dallas County Deputies, Dallas County EMS, Adel First Responders, Dallas Center First Responders, and the Waukee Fire Department all responded to the scene.
Riley Scharper, 28 years old, from Adel, Iowa was located inside a passenger car with severe injuries. First Responders extricated him from the vehicle and he was flown by Mercy One helicopter to Mercy hospital in Des Moines for treatment. Scharper later passed away from his injuries.
The driver of the other vehicle, Steven Morrell, 60 years old, from rural Adel was transported by ambulance for minor injuries.
Deputies are still investigating the accident.
