HF 784 Iowa Math Counts Act

On June 02, 2025, House File 784 was signed into law, establishing new expectations for: 

• Family centered resources
• Professional development 
• List of valid and reliable mathematics screeners
• Comprehensive state mathematics plan
• Teacher preparation
• Personalized mathematics plan

New Resource: K-5 Standards for Mathematical Practices Posters

New Resource Alert! Iowa’s updated Academic Standards for Mathematics now have a fresh set of K-5 Standards for Mathematical Practice posters—perfect for classrooms, hallways, or PD spaces. These visually engaging posters are aligned with the new standards and designed to help students, teachers, and families understand the habits of mind that support meaningful math learning. Download and display them to promote a shared language around mathematical thinking and empower students to engage as problem solvers, reasoners, and communicators. Registration for the U.S. Conference on Teaching Statistics (USCOTS)

Now Accepting Speaker Proposals for the Fall Conference: Due 6/15/25

Iowa Council of Teachers of Mathematics IICTM) is now accepting speaker proposals for the ICTM 2025 Fall Conference. ICTM invites educators to share their expertise and innovative practices by submitting a proposal to present. The deadline for proposal submissions is June 15, 2025.

NCTM + NCTE Registration OPEN Registration:Due 06/16/25

The National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) are thrilled to announce the second annual Joint Conference on Elementary Literacy and Mathematics, taking place from June 16–18, 2025, in Chicago, Illinois. 

Teaching and Learning Grants Due 06/30/2025

Teaching and Learning Grant applications are accepted year round, and reviewed at the end of each quarter. Grant applications submitted now through June 30 will be reviewed in July.
Grants to help fund travel to the ICTM and NCTM conferences this fall are also available!
