 NCTM is in the process of creating a video library to highlight the Eight (8) Effective Math Teaching Practices from Principles to Actions We are looking for videos in PK–2, 3–5, 6–8, and 9–12 grade bands.
Why Submit a Video?
- Enhance your teacher portfolio.
- Impact teaching and learning in the classroom - inspire others!
- Contribute beyond your classroom, share your expertise with the field. Your video may be used for:
- NCTM Professional Learning offerings
- Improving the profession by sharing your classroom and experiences
- Inspiring other teachers
Guidelines
- Submit a 3-5 minute clip showcasing one or more of NCTM’s eight effective teaching practices. Longer video footage will be accepted that we can edit into shorter clips. Please do not submit any videos longer than 10 minutes.
- Although videos do not need to be professionally filmed, we would appreciate the highest quality video that you can capture. (Video Tips and Settings)
- Please make sure that any student dialogue is easily heard.
- You do not have to be an NCTM member to submit a video clip.
- If your video includes students, please obtain and submit student permission forms.
- Your video will be reviewed by a team of volunteers. Not all videos will be added to the video library.

IA-NCSM is an Iowa affiliate of the National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics, the professional organization for mathematics leaders and supervisors of any variety.
IA-NCSM is excited to announce that its professional learning series is titled "Figuring Out Fluency in Mathematics Teaching and Learning," aligns with the newly revised Iowa Academic Standards for Mathematics.

Thirtieth Annual Conference of the Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators
The 2026 Annual Conference of the Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators (AMTE) is taking place February 5-7, 2026, in vibrant Portland, Oregon. As the largest professional organization devoted to the improvement of mathematics teacher education, AMTE brings together a dynamic community of educators, researchers, and leaders to explore innovative practices, share impactful research, and foster meaningful connections. Join us as we advance AMTE’s mission to promote excellence in mathematics teacher education through effective preparation, meaningful professional development, and strong advocacy for policies that support equitable mathematics teaching and learning. Join us at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines for two days of powerful professional learning at Teaching for Impact: Training for All Educators Supporting Learners with Disabilities. This no-cost event is designed for educators, administrators, early childhood providers, AEA professionals, and higher ed faculty working with learners with disabilities from birth through age 21.

Iowa Council of Teachers of Mathematics IICTM) is now accepting speaker proposals for the ICTM 2025 Fall Conference.
ICTM invites educators to share their expertise and innovative practices by submitting a proposal to present. The deadline for proposal submissions is June 15, 2025.

 The National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) are thrilled to announce the second annual Joint Conference on Elementary Literacy and Mathematics, taking place from June 16–18, 2025, in Chicago, Illinois.
 Check on the Iowa Council of Teachers of Mathematics website iowamath.org for more information as it becomes available.
Each fall, ICTM will award up to 15 grants of $500 or $300 to support new-to-teaching, first year teachers who will be teaching mathematics full or part time in the state of Iowa. A grant of $500 is available to those teachers who are teaching mathematics at least 50% of each day. For those teachers that are teaching mathematics less than 50% of each day, a grant of $300 is available.
A one-year membership to ICTM will be included with the grant. This grant program is a part of the ICTM Marilyn Zweng Memorial Fund and is designed to support first year teachers teaching mathematics as they begin their teaching career.
Marilyn Zweng First Year Teacher Grant applications are due August 20.
